This partly pathless ascent is in a wild high-mountain landscape and contrasts with the marked route on the south side to the Risihorn, which rather leads over the gentle valley flank of the Goms.

Starting point: Steinmann at "Gletscherblick" (2362 m), or the mountain station of the chairlift.Route (RTE): From the striking Steinmann at "Gletscherblick" (P.2362), follow the marked trail to the Finsteraarhorn hut (opened 19 July 2009) to P.2403 with a striking stone - the "Schärflüe".
