Circular hike from Bellwald via Steinhaus/Mühlebach and the Goms Bridge

From Sion/Sitten:

After leaving the motorway in Sierre, stay on the cantonal road until Naters. Then pass through Mörel, Unterdeisch, Lax, and Fiesch. After 6 km, turn left to Fürgangen. Pass through Fürgangen and follow the road to Bellwald.

From Bern:

Take the motorway towards Kandersteg: exit 19 Spiez/Faulensee. Follow the signs to the Kandersteg car shuttle tunnel. After the shuttle, drive to Gampel/Steg. At the roundabout, turn right towards Visp/Brig/Naters. Then pass through Naters, Mörel, Unterdeisch, Lax, and Fiesch. After 6 km, turn left to Fürgangen. Pass through Fürgangen and follow the road to Bellwald.

From Zurich:

Motorway towards Gotthard. Then take the exit to the Furka Pass. You can either cross the Furka Pass (only in the summer months) or take the car train in Realp. You will arrive in Oberwald. Continue until you pass through the Mühlebach gallery. Then turn right towards Fürgangen. Pass through Fürgangen and follow the road to Bellwald.

All parking lots in Bellwald are subject to charges, except for the Basper parking lot near the mountain station of the Fürgangen-Bellwald aerial cableway, which is free of charge. The Basper parking lot is located in the lower part of the village. Another parking lot is located in the immediate vicinity of the valley station of the mountain railway. There are two large parking areas available here, both of which are subject to charges.

From Zurich, Bern, Basel, Geneva, or Lausanne with the SBB via Visp to Brig. In Brig, switch to the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn and take it to the Fürgangen-Bellwald stop. There, switch to the Fürgangen aerial cableway, which takes you directly to the village centre. From the village centre, a short uphill walk awaits you. Simply follow the signs towards the sports ground. This will take you to Holzer Sport within 10 minutes. Please note that the Fürgangen aerial cableway undergoes maintenance during the off-season.

If you want to send luggage to Bellwald, this is done to the mountain station of the Fürgangen-Bellwald aerial cableway! The transport fee of 2 CHF, which was due for transport from the valley station to the mountain station, is waived. You only need to show the receipt at the mountain station and will receive your luggage from the colleagues on site.

Pay a short visit to the St. Anna Chapel before you dare the ascent back to Bellwald.
