Already 30 years ago, there was talk of a parkland in Bellwald that would connect nature, lake, recreation, and leisure. However, before it could become a reality, many hurdles had to be overcome. The rezoning was arranged with the canton. With the forest district, the aim was to keep the impact on the forest as minimal as possible. Valuable partners in environmental and nature conservation matters were found in conservation organizations. The municipality organized the financing as the client. The planning of the facility completed the preparations before construction could begin.
Today, the Nature and Recreation Park presents itself as a small jewel in the offerings. It blends very well with the surrounding natural values and complements the existing biotopes in the adjacent forest area. Walking paths around the lake and through the forest give visitors the opportunity to get very close to nature, discover rare plants, and observe even rarer animals.
Park benches invite walkers and nature explorers to take their time and forget the rush of everyday life. As part of the Outdoor Park, the park created by the municipality of Bellwald forms the ideal complement to active sports activities.
