Here, you’ll face challenging ascents, spectacular views, and a nature experience that will stay with you for a long time.

Stoneman Glaciara Hike

Step by step through the Alps

A fairy-tale running and hiking route through the centuries-old mountain villages of the Valais, passing the majestic Aletsch Glacier and crossing two valley-spanning suspension bridges. The 65-kilometer route, with 3,150 meters of elevation gain, is designed to be completed either as a varied trail run in one day or as a hiking adventure with two or three stages.

A challenging ascent takes you from the over 600-year-old Valais village of Bellwald up to the crystal-clear Märjelensee, located at the eastern edge of the Aletsch Glacier. The highlight of the Stoneman Glaciara Hike is undoubtedly the ridge walk from this impressive backdrop. From the stunning viewpoint at Eggishorn, the ridge leads to Bettmerhorn.

Among the absolute highlights is crossing the two monumental suspension bridges, soaring over 100 meters high. The breathtaking natural spectacle is completed by the mystique of the centuries-old Valais mountain villages in the Goms region.

Stoneman Glaciara Bike

The Ultimate Challenge on Two Wheels

4,700 meters of elevation gain, 27 billion tons of ice: The Stoneman Glaciara is the new mountain biking experience by Roland Stauder in Switzerland.

The route takes you over three balanced stages up to the Great Aletsch Glacier – the most powerful ice stream in the Alps – and back to Mörel. The royal ascent of nearly 1,600 meters follows: an old military road leads steeply up to the 2,451-meter-high Breithorn Pass. From there, it’s a descent into the Binntal. Following the Rhône River, the route continues towards Obergoms – through ancient, mystical village centers, along historic landmarks, and welcoming cafés.
