Hängebrücke Aspi-Titter
The connection enhances the region’s tourism appeal and creates economic benefits for the areas along the hiking route by stimulating mountain railways, hotels, restaurants and mountain huts, particularly in the economically weaker Goms region.
The suspension bridge over the Weisswasser overcomes the natural boundary between the Aletsch Plateau and the Goms region, promoting cooperation as well as cohesion between the municipalities. For the surrounding villages, the suspension bridge provides shorter access and descent routes and not only enhances the regional one-day hiking offer but also enables exciting multi-day hiking tours.
The Aspi-Titter suspension bridge spanning the 120-metre-deep Weisswasser Gorge at the foot of the Fiesch Glacier is the final missing piece of a continuous high-altitude hiking trail from the Gotthard region to Lower Valais. Located in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, it connects not only the two municipalities of Bellwald and Fieschertal but also links the Aletsch region with the Goms district.
