- Destination: Bellwald
The hike begins in the picturesque village of Bellwald, which is situated at an altitude of about 1600 meters. Bellwald is known for its well-preserved Valais wooden houses and the breathtaking views of the surrounding Alps. From here, the path initially leads through the village and then continues on well-marked hiking trails to Eggen over lush alpine meadows.
The descent into the Fieschertal offers numerous panoramic views of the Rhone Valley and the opposite mountains. Along the way, you pass small streams and idyllic rest areas that invite you to take a short break. The path is well developed but partly steep, requiring a certain surefootedness.
After about 1-2 hours, you reach the Fieschertal, an idyllic valley surrounded by imposing mountains. The Fieschertal itself is a quiet, peaceful place. Take the opportunity to admire the spectacular mountain scenery and enjoy the clear mountain air.
The ascent back to Bellwald requires some stamina due to the altitude gain, but the varied landscape and fresh mountain air make the climb pleasant. Take your time to enjoy nature and possibly make further photo stops.

Safety guidelines
A multi-hour exploration of steep and remote mountain regions can bring surprises and be strenuous. Therefore, it is recommended to observe the following points:Â
- Take regular breaks, about every 1-1½ hours and whenever concentration begins to falter. Recover and strengthen yourself with something to drink and a small snack.
- Regularly check your location and compare it with your schedule. This way you can think in time about alternatives, shortcuts, cancellations, etc.
- Turn back or seek shelter in time in case of bad weather. If thunderclouds gather, it is advisable to end the hike as soon as possible.
- Plan enough time and energy reserves for the descent.
- Avoid livestock herds and wild animals calmly and with sufficient distance. Keep dogs on a leash.
- Remain calm when encountering herd protection dogs so that the dog recognizes that you pose no danger to the herd. Keep a generous distance around the herd.
- Let mountain bikers pass without hindering them.
